Hello everyone! I hope that you are all safe and well. Thank you to everyone who has forwarded on their animal presentations to me. I would like to remind you all to make sure you are going onto Matheltics as not everyone is logging on and completing tasks. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are having any issues with Mathletics and I’ll be happy to help! Also, if anyone has completed any of the STEM activities from the activity pack – please forward me on your feedback or if you have any pictures from your STEM activity then send these on too. I have had some great images so far!
If you have any work or projects you have completed, please send them over to me (ndavis@littleheath.herts.sch.uk) I would love to see them!
Pre-recorded lessons
This week, I have made two pre-recorded lessons to help you with your work. An English lesson to help you with your research and a maths lesson on pictograms. I hope you enjoy!

English presentation DINOSAURS– Once you have finished your animal presentation you will be starting a new presentation/project (or you can add this onto your animal presentation). You will be creating a presentation on dinosaurs. You can pick specific dinosaurs to research as well as find out about dinosaurs. Please start this project this week. You will be producing a project/presentation by completing research on dinosaurs. It is up to you how you present your findings - you can choose a PowerPoint/ Prezi/ non-chronological report/ poster/leaflet/fact file etc. to show your findings). The writing should be in your own words. The presentation could cover:
What is a dinosaur?
When were dinosaurs on Earth?
Habitats/location
Diet
Fun Facts
Appearance (weight/length/tall)
Life span
Behaviour
Fossils found
This is really up to you, explore as much as you would like to and show your findings. If you need any help or guidance feel free to email me.

STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths – I have uploaded a few STEM activities designed to be done at home (as they require minimal resources). Feel free to have a look and see if there are any activities you would like to do. Please email me to let me know if you tried any and how they went! This is optional (but a lot of fun!)
Espresso - The children enjoy going on Espresso (we normally watch the news on here) but it is a website that has a lot of content as well its own coding program. The log in that can be used by each child is:

PE – Joe Wicks is hosting a free workout aimed at children LIVE on his YouTube channel. With the schools closed and with us all spending more time at home, it's more important than ever that we keep moving and stay healthy and positive. Exercise is an amazing tool to help us feel happier, more energised, and more optimistic. The workouts will be fun and suitable for all ages and even adults can get involved. You don't need any equipment, just tune in to his YouTube channel at 9am each morning for a 30-minute, fun workout.

Sign language – Learn BSL! I found this link and thought that you may want to learn some sign language while you are off of school - what an excellent opportunity. I believe they are streaming lessons every day. I have attached the link for lesson 1. If you enjoy it, you can explore their channel and find more lessons to learn more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR2Zb7TbiOA&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3Hozewf2mllUAfQQ9tm3wT8QC3_T-JjdGQWjZ04u_Pz2WsQdYvwybiDUA
Puzzle of the week
Music/Singing Assemblies
Please see below message from our music teacher, Mrs Lawrence:
Hi everyone,
Here are a couple of songs for this week: ‘Into the Unknown’ and ‘High Hopes’. You may well be familiar with one or both of them, in their original versions!
I would like to introduce you to them, as sung by Acapop, a professional kids’ pop choir. Their name comes from the words ‘a cappella’ an Italian music term which has come to mean ‘unaccompanied’ – music that is just sung, rather than played by instruments. (It’s original translation means sung ‘in the style of chapel or church music’.) All the percussive sounds and all the background harmonies in these tracks are made by voices alone. No instruments.
What different sounds can you make with your voices? Can any of you have a go at beat boxing? Can you pick out any of the harmonies in the songs?
Here are the original Acapop videos, where you can see the children perform, and the videos with lyrics:

Now that many of you are returning to school, I am looking forward to seeing a few more of you in the coming weeks, even though it will only be from a distance.
Best wishes,
Mrs Lawrence
